A Vision in Motion

Snow

David McCormick delivered on snow removal by sponsoring House Bill 2960, allowing private contractors to clear secondary roads in Monongalia and Preston Counties. The new program improves safety, keeps communities moving, and ensures families can get to work, school, and hospitals during winter storms.

Tax Efficiency Act of 2026

David McCormick is fighting to simplify West Virginia’s Business & Occupation tax system, so businesses file one return instead of multiple filings for different cities. The Tax Efficiency Act of 2026 cuts red tape, saves time and money, and makes West Virginia more competitive for small businesses.

Local Business Owner

David McCormick built a business from scratch and understands firsthand the challenges of making payroll, creating jobs, and navigating regulations. That real-world experience drives his work in Charleston to support small businesses, economic growth, and job creation across West Virginia.

Vaping

David McCormick supports taxing vaping products at the same rate as cigarettes because vapes contain addictive nicotine and are aggressively marketed to young people. Equal taxation protects kids, promotes public health, and helps address the real costs of nicotine addiction without punishing responsible adults.

Kratom

David McCormick believes Kratom should be removed from the West Virginia market due to serious health risks and a lack of safety oversight. Protecting families means acting when an addictive, unregulated substance poses clear dangers with no proven medical benefit.

Standing in the Gap

When a federal shutdown left families in District 82 without paychecks, David McCormick stepped in, donating 100 turkeys to affected workers and SNAP recipients. To him, real representation means showing up during a crisis and partnering with community organizations to help neighbors in need.

Proud West Virginian, Entrepreneur, and Advocate

I’m David McCormick a lifelong West Virginian, small-business owner, and proud resident of North Central West Virginia. I currently serve the people of the 82nd District in the West Virginia House of Delegates, where I work every day to give our communities and our small businesses a stronger voice in Charleston.

I was born in Morgantown in 1969 and grew up in Logan, graduating from our public schools before attending West Virginia University. Like many West Virginia families, education runs deep in ours I’m one of 14 family members who attended WVU, and I carry that pride with me wherever I go.

In 2013, I founded Omega Commercial Interiors with nothing more than a card table, a lawn chair, and a lot of determination. From those humble beginnings, Omega has grown into a thriving West Virginia company with offices in Morgantown and Charleston, 16 employees, and clients across the state and in 19 other states. We hire West Virginians, employ WVU graduates, and live by a simple principle Buy Local and invest back into our communities.

I ran for the House of Delegates because I believe more business owners people who have signed the front of a paycheck, made payroll, and navigated real-world regulations need a seat at the table. As Vice Chairman of the Agriculture, Commerce, and Tourism Committee, I focus on commonsense policies that support job growth, strengthen local economies, improve infrastructure, and help small businesses compete and succeed.

I’m not a career politician I’m a business owner, neighbor, and community partner who understands the challenges our families and employers face because I live them, too.

I’m married to Lisa Robertson of Fairmont, who has worked with MVB Bank since its founding. Our family includes two grown sons, Corey and Ryan Wanstreet, and three wonderful grandchildren. When I’m not working or serving in Charleston, you’ll usually find Lisa and me enjoying the outdoors, golfing, or supporting local businesses across the great state of West Virginia.

For more than 25 years, West Virginia has given me every opportunity to build a life, a family, and a business here and as your delegate, I’m committed to working hard so more West Virginians can do the same.
